Remembering: Clair Dale McClintick Cpl. US Army 1932-2008
Clair D McClintick, son of Charles Clair and Dorothy Faye Timblin McClintick , was born 22 Apr 1932 and raised in Weedville, Elk, Pennsylvania.
and attended Weedville Schools. With te itch for adventure, Clair hitch hiked to California at about age 17, and when he was drafted
he returned back to Pennsylvania
He served as corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 in Germany with the 1745th Co A 39th Infantry Regiment. For his services he received the
Occupation medal Germany, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Shortly after his discharge from the Army he married Dorothy Schenck from Ridgway, March 19, 1955, and soon off to California again. Dorothy
became homesick and they moved back to Ridgway and started their family. Overtime they had one
daughter- Carol McClintick Shih and two sons- Charles G. McClintick and Alan McClintick. and six
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Based on his military training and experience, he became a machinist for more than 50 years and worked at Hughes Aircraft and later at
National Cash Register in California as machinist in research and
development, and then Piper Aircraft near Caledonia. He retired from General Motors in Pittsburgh as a tool and die maker in 1997. He
lived in California for 20 years and returned to
Weedville in 1976. He moved to Pittsburgh in 1986 and
lived in Eighty Four since 1994.He enjoyed hunting and fishing and dogs.
Clair D. McClintick, 75, Eighty Four, Washington, Pennsylvania, died Friday 22 Feb 2008 at Canonsburg General Hospital in Canonsburg. He was buried
in Mount Zion Cemetery, Weedville with military honors by Valley Legion Post No. 978 Burial Detail.
