In between the large rocks there are a number of crevices and passage ways. On the wall of one of these passage
ways is carved the name "J. E. Hicks - May 10, 1908", and another is "Jordon - 9-8-1901." The Jordon family is
acknowledged as the first family to settle on what now is the village of Driftwood. The Levi Hick family was
the first permanent settlers of Hick's Run. Levi Hick's was the first person to float log rafts down the
Bennett's Branch, and later served as a rafting pilot for Miles Dent. Copyright © 2008 Mt Zion Historical Society, Inc
